The famous sight of the region is the Aksu-Jabagly Preserve in the branches of West Tien Shan. The total area is 74.4 thousand ha. Established in 1926, it was the first preserve in Kazakhstan and Middle Asia. You will be astonished with the majestic mountain ridges, rapid mountain rivers and a nature of primeval beauty!

The preserve has the main high-altitude vegetation belts from mountain tundra to a snow ice belt 1000 to 4280m above sea level. Tens of endemic plants grow here. The fantastically beautiful alpine meadows of Aksu-Jabagly flower in spring. The flowering time of a rare flower – giant Greig tulip – begins at this time. A traveler will be charmed by the motley variety of flowering tulips on emerald grass. By the way, this is where Holland tulips came from! !
