Kazakhstan participated in the XVIIth session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, which was held in Cartagena de Indias (Columbia) in the period 22-29 of November, 2007.

At the XVIIth session of the General Assembly of UNWTO the two initiatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan were realized. The candidature of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Membership at the Executive Council of UNWTO for the period 2007-2011 was supported. By voting and decision of the delegates-representatives of the 150 countries, Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan hosts the next General Assembly of UNWTO.
