It comes in February in southern areas. Spring is short in all the zones and lasts mostly for only 1.5-2 months. A stable 0-degree transition occurs in April 10-15 and in early April in Saryarka and Altai piedmont. The snow cover starts breaking by mid-April in North Kazakhstan, March in Central Kazakhstan and February in South Kazakhstan. Daily temperature variations reach 16-180C. Night frost stops in May in North Kazakhstan and in April in the south.
Across the huge area of the Republic, some springs move from south to north during 1.5 to 2 months (when there is spring sowing in the south, land can still be ice-bound with snowstorms raging).
