International tourist exhibition
An international tourist exhibition, with Kazakhstan having been represented by 19 tourist operators from 7 regions of the republic, has taken place in Shanghai. Kazakhstan’s exposition was one of largest following that of China and India, with an area of about 400 square metres. Colour billboards and video images demonstrating Kazakhstan’s achievements were installed, with tourist operators showing the capabilities of their regions, that is long studied and traditional routes to holy places in Turkestan, the Arystan-bab mausoleum, the ancient city of Otyrar, the Sauran stronghold, the mazar Domalak-Ata, the resort zone Borovoye and relic and biosphere reserves. Among novelties there are catching royal trout on lakes, hiking, horse-riding and cycling trips. Saline lakes with peloid, mineral salts and majestic nature were all among the most prospective projects. The country’s economic potential is no less important, with the foremost task that of developing Astana, the financial centre of Almaty and tourism in Kapchagai and Borovoye, where large tourist centres are planned to be concentrated.

- This year is the first time we are taking part in the Shaghai exhibition, we are expanding our geography towards Southeast Asia. Kazakhstan’s delegation is performing with a goal to popularise the republic’s tourist opportunities, strengthen its positive image and settle business cooperation between Kazakhstan’s and foreign companies, including those of China.
The tourist potential of Kazakhstan and a project of development of the resort zone “Kenderli” in the Mangistau region have also been displayed at the exhibition.

- There will be many sites in the “Kenderli” zone which would be suitable for use in business tourism, such as sport sites and conference-halls. I mean big business centres to host large events, presentations, seminars. The zone will be active all year round and will not be unprofitable.
A project called «Aktau city”, providing for a new city with an industrial zone and recreation area on the Caspian Sea was also showcased in the Mangistau region, with it major goal to develop beach tourism.
